Rachel began her role as the Community Schools Resource Coordinator at Lake View Elementary on August 20, 2018.
She is originally from the north side of Madison and has lived in Sheboygan, WI and Madrid, Spain before returning to Madison. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is fluent in Spanish. She has many years of professional experience in education, youth development and social work. She spent nine years in various roles within the Madison Metropolitan School District: serving in AmeriCorps with MSCR at Mendota Elementary, as a Special Education Assistant at Chávez Elementary and an MSCR Afterschool Director at Lake View Elementary and Nuestro Mundo Community School. Most recently before returning to MMSD, she was a community-based long-term care case manager for adults with disabilities and a housing case manager providing wraparound services for homeless families to secure and maintain stable housing.
Outside of work, Rachel volunteers as a grant writer for a local non-profit, enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, playing the violin and swimming.
