Nou Vang-VueGreetings! The Lake View Community School staff extends a warm welcome to all our families.  My name is Nkauj Nou Vang-Vue (first name pronounced gau-nu) and I am the school principal. I go by Nou and students can call me Ms. Vang-Vue.

At Lake View we "value our diverse community where students, families and staff have a voice. We work together to create a sense of belonging and meaningful learning opportunities for our scholars every day. We actively stand up for equity. Together, we are Lake View!” (Lake View Equity Vision, 2020)

As a community school, Lake View is a kindergarten through 5th grade school with a diverse student body. Our 260 students come from a variety of neighborhoods with about two-thirds walking to school. Our goal is to provide the best possible learning experience for every child. We are continually expanding our environmental opportunities with the school garden, school forest and outdoor classroom. We also focus on student leadership through the teaching of social emotional skills that will help create future leaders. In partnership with families and community organizations, we strive to provide services to meet the needs of our school community as well as contribute to its growth and strengthened practices.

What's more, we build on the assets of the community to help serve the identified needs of scholars, families and community through well integrated and coordinated strategic partnerships. In partnership with our families and community, our goal is to create a culture of college, career and community readiness for all! We look forward to working with you to guide your children in their social and academic learning based on their individual strengths and needs. Academically, we will continue to focus on a rigorous curriculum based on Common Core State Standards in the areas of literacy and math. Holistically, we will take the time to teach children the skill sets they need in order to be successful socially and emotionally at school. Did I mention that we have an amazing outdoor learning environment! Children will have opportunities to take their learning outdoors in our school forest, nature station, garden and our outdoor learning pavilion. As we head into year three of our technology plan, we are excited to continue to provide monitors in the classroom and one-to-one devices for students in grades second through fifth. We also provide opportunities in the arts with concerts, choir, and strings.

On behalf of the Lake View staff and myself, I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit with us and participate with your child in his/her learning experience. We encourage parents to talk to their child every day about what their child has learned at school. We hope that parents will become actively involved in our school. This can look like participating during parent-teacher conferences, supporting your child’s learning while at home, communicating and providing feedback to teachers and staff regularly, being a part of the parent-teacher association, or contributing your ideas or time where you can.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns at any time, as we are here to serve you and your child. I look forward to hearing from you as well as seeing you at one of our great school events this year. Let’s make it a great year because "Together, We Are Lake View!" "Ua Ib Ke, Peb Yog Lake View!"
